How to convert a PDF file to a Word doc from your netbook
I rely on cloud based DocQ for reading or editing PDF files on my notebook. However, DocQ can only read and edit files. When I had to create PDF files from different file formats, I had to look for an application with advanced features. My hunt for a multi-utility application, which can also convert different file formats, led me to gDoc Creator, which can be locally installed in my notebook to edit and manage different file formats, even when I am on the move. See how.

This application comes with built-in gDoc Fusion, which is a document viewer as well as an editor. However, you can use the free version of gDoc Fusion for a limited number of days. It shouldn’t worry you much because you can always install free applications like Foxit PDF Reader on your netbook.
The installation of gDoc Creator takes a bit longer. I was annoyed with the frequent activation pop-up window appearing in the middle of important work.
When gDoc Creator gets installed on your netbook, it creates a separate add-on for Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. This allows you to create PDF and XPS documents directly from these applications.

Full marks should be given to the simple interface of gDoc Creator. It allows you to easily select the files and choose the desired output formats.

gDoc Creator gives you several options for creating documents. For example, if you want to convert a PDF file to a Word file, it gives you three options: retain page layout, retain text edit ability, and retain text flow.

I tried to perform three document conversions—Word doc to PDF, PDF to Word doc and Excel.xls to PDF—from gDoc on my notebook. All the conversions were excellent. One of the documents had ten pages, but it hardly took time to complete the conversion process. However, when I tried to convert the Excel.xls file to PDF, the Excel cells were missing in the final output.

gDoc Fusion, which comes as a built-in feature with gDoc Creator, enables you to view multiple documents in multiple formats simultaneously . You can merge pages from multiple documents to create a new document in gDoc Fusion. You just need to drag and drop together Word documents, Excel Spreadsheets, PowerPoint slides or JPEG files in the gDoc Fusion Window to create a new document automatically.

Apart from viewing a document, gDoc Fusion allows you to edit a document using its unique context-sensitive editing tool.

I found gDoc Creator a useful application for my netbook as I prefer converting files offline on my netbook to using web based services. No doubt, gDoc Creator will have a permanent stay in my Samsung NC20.
