How to share remote desktop without installing software
I had a tough time when I tried to take remote control of my uncle’s PC from my netbook. Although the process went smooth, the procedure of installing the remote assistance software on the PC was a painstaking process. It took me a long time to guide my computer novice uncle to install the remote assistance software. Later, I found LogMeIn Express, which made the process much simpler. Let’s see how this works.
What distinguishes LogMeIn Express from other remote desktop control applications is that it bypasses the tedious process of installing the application in the remote computer you are trying to access.
To access your desktop remotely, you'll need to click the 'Share' button on the home page of the LogMeIn Express website.
Clicking the 'Share' button will install a 877.7KB executable file to your netbook within few seconds.
After you run the file, a little black window pops up displaying a 12-digit code, which you need to send to the person who wants to share the computer screen.
There are several ways by which you can share the 12-digit code. The same pop up window displays an envelope icon, which will open your default email client from where you can send the code to the person who wants to share the desktop with you.
The pop up window also has a chat option, which will allow you to chat with the other users sharing the screen.
Once the other person receives your code, he needs to login to the home page of LogMeIn Express. He is required to enter the 12-digit code, and then click the view button, which will allow remote access to the desktop.
You can also share files with the remote computer using LogMeIn Express. In addition to this, you can share a desktop with multiple viewers at the same time.
LogMeIn Express is still in its beta stage. It's possible that you may encounter some bugs while using this. Now, whenever my uncle has problem with his computer, LogMeIn Express allows me to access his computer and help him even when I am on the move with my netbook.
