Your OS on the cloud
The launch of Chrome OS is just round the corner and I am quite thrilled with the beta version I installed a few days back. I loved the cloud support offered by Chrome OS, but missed my desktop apps a lot as it is completely browser based. If you prefer to have both desktop and cloud apps on your netbook on the move, check out Jolicloud OS here.
No more sluggish video chats
I love to chat with my friends from my netbook while travelling. Video chat adds an element of fun to our group chats and we all really enjoy it. However, the sluggish chatting apps take so much time to load and run the video chats that we often limit ourselves only to text chat. But not anymore, as we now use TinyChat, an easy to use and fast to load group video chat application.
Popular games on Facebook
Facebook has crossed the 350-million user milestone recently. It is not solely due to its powerful social networking tools, but also due to its list of addictive games. Social games have helped Facebook register 69 million active users in a month, which is much higher than that of Twitter. Here are the top two addictive games I enjoy playing on Facebook.
Free software just a comment away
I can feel Christmas in the air! I have always been charmed by the month of December, if not for the cool weather, then definitely for the warmth of the festive season and the sheer delight of shopping. Markets are flooded with lucrative offers, discounts and special deals, and here’s your chance to win some cool software as gifts without spending even a penny from your pocket.
Windows 7 snappier on netbook
There are dozens of tips and tricks available on the web to boost the performance of Windows 7 on netbooks. It is difficult to pick the best among them, but here are some tips I found quite useful on my netbook. After trying them out, working on this new operating system became much easier and faster on my netbook. Let's explore them here.
Organize your ideas effectively
I wonder how many brilliant ideas go in vain as we never tried to shape out our thoughts in to ideas most of the times. If we can link up all the useful ideas from our brain, we can actually find solutions for most of our problems. I have a habit of jotting down my ideas so that I will not forget them. However, when I am not carrying a sheet of paper with me, I will never forget to scribble my ideas on my netbook with online brain mapping website Bubbl.us.
Listen to the best melodies online
I like to relax by listening to music on my netbook after a hectic day. I use a number of websites for online music streaming and radio broadcast. They give their own description of songs but not a proper review. If I want expert opinion, I'll have to search the Internet for music blogs or review websites. But not anymore, I can now listen to songs, download and share them and also get feedback from hundreds of bloggers about the songs.
Track Twitter with ease
Twitter is more than just a social networking site now; it is your ultimate guide to news updates from all over the world. Twitter is changing the face of media and is becoming the central repository of news and information on a variety of topics. Twitter is one of my favorite sources for research and here is how I follow conversations on Twitter and other social networking websites from my Samsung NC20 with ease.
Grab your personal YouTube Player
Music is a therapy for wandering souls like me, and an effective stress buster. Every night I listen to my favorite artists until I fall asleep. YouTube has such a huge collection of videos that it has become difficult to search for high quality videos of our choice. By the time I finish creating a playlist on YouTube, I will be too tired to listen. TubeRadio.fm is such a breeze to find, watch and create a playlist of YouTube videos with an easy interface like that of online radios.
Map your house in 3D
My house in Koramangala was one of the first houses in our area to be marked on Google Earth! At that time I hadn't imagined that I could have my house on the map in 3D! Well, I am waiting for Google Earth to extend the service to India also. I found the time to check out the 3D feature while returning from Indore after Diwali holidays. My flight got delayed for 4 hours and I decided to check it out on my Samsung NC20. Try this out!
