How to share your travel experiences from your netbook

Although my travel plans are nothing close to this scale, I have already chalked out some plans to explore some exotic locales in India. Although readers had to wait for ages to read Marco Polo’s travel memoirs, my friends can read my travelogue while I am on the move with my Samsung NC20. See how.

OnTheRoad is a cloud based travel journal, which allows globe trotters to share their travel experience at every step with their families and friends. OnTheRoad works with a host of features making it an ideal tool for your travelogue.

The home page of OnTheRoad is intuitive and informative and it goes well with the vagabond spirit of globe trotters.

Once you are done with the simple sign up procedure, OnTheRoad generates two URLs for the travelers (users). The first URL directs you to the ‘TripBook’ where you can find your comprehensive travel memoirs. ‘TripBook’ reminded me of Christopher Columbus' log book where he used to keep detailed accounts of his voyage.

It is easy to fill up your travel accounts on the 'TripBook'. You just need to mail your content to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it from your email Id, which is associated with the OnTheRoad account. Once your content is posted on your 'TripBook', it will be accessible to all the fellow travelers who have signed up with OnTheRoad. There is a navigation bar at the top of 'TripBook', which displays the time logs when contents were posted on your 'TripBook'.

To make your 'TripBook' engrossing for other readers, you can always load it with audios, videos and images of the places you have visited. You can be rest assured about the formats of your video, audio and images. OnTheRoad can handle any file format on its 'TripBook'.

When you are going for a longer trip, it is always good to plan your trip in advance to ensure you do not miss out important destinations. I always find good reasons to extend my planned trips. OnTheRoad allows you to make changes to your travel itinerary from your netbook. OnTheRoad is integrated with Virtual Earth. Using the road and aerial view of Virtual Earth, you can plan your trip by ‘pinning’ the location. After you pack your bags from a location, you can add comments and images on the ‘pinned’ location of Virtual Earth. This feature will keep the viewers updated about your activities in a particular location.

There is a world map at the left pane of the 'TripBook'. The world map has four options—street map, satellite imagery, street name and terrain map. This feature will be handy for those who need directions about places. You can zoom and pan the map to understand the topography of a new location. If you click the ‘Hybrid’ button, it displays the Google Earth images with street names of that location. No wonder, this application is powered by Google. You can also post information about the local weather of a location you select on the map.

If you are using a new web 2.0, you cannot negate the importance of Facebook and Twitter. OnTheRoad is also not an exception. You can easily share your travel experiences on Facebook. You can also integrate OnTheRoad application on Facebook. Once you integrate this application, your Facebook ‘Wall’ will be updated with all the content, images and videos, which you have posted in your ‘TripBook’.

Since all my planning is done from OnTheRoad, I just need to wait for the loan to sponsor my long trip.
