Schedule tweets with ease

Twitter is not just another micro blogging tool, it has now developed into a professional marketing application. It is easy to make most of your multiple Twitter accounts through desktop apps like TweetDeck. However, I found that Twitter desktop clients consumed a lot of processing speed and space of my netbook. So I decided not to struggle with hefty desktop apps anymore as HootSuite offers better tweeting experience and great features right from a browser.

If you have a corporate presence on Twitter, and have multiple accounts to manage, it is hard to manage them with the basic interface of Twitter. HootSuite is a web based Twitter management tool for managing multiple Twitter profiles from a single interface. It allows you to schedule tweets, team workflow, feed your blog RSS feed, manage groups, track statistics and do much more with your Twitter accounts.

Create an account on HootSuite by entering an email id, and general details followed by verification through a confirmation mail.

Once your account is created, you can start adding multiple social networking accounts to your HootSuite profile. HootSuite has recently added support for Facebook, LinkedIn and other social networking websites also to its network. The home page has a simple tabbed interface and it is easy to switch between multiple accounts through tabs. It is easy to carry out different actions from the home page itself by adding several columns in HootSuite.

There are also options to add multiple administrators or editors for an account and for building a team workflow. It is easy to create a column on your Twitter homepage. Click on ‘Add column’, choose your social networking account, and select the type of column from mentions and replies to favorites and pending tweets.

It is easy to schedule tweets by clicking ‘Send later’ or clock icon from the text box. Similarly html links can be shortened by clicking on ‘Shrink it’ option. Similarly, you can tweet media files by hitting the camera and files icons below the text box.

If you click on any user, you will get a pop up window with user details, earlier tweets, profile options and other useful features. You can also create and manage your Twitter lists for friends and business contacts by simple drag and drop. It is not as tedious as TweetDeck where you have to scroll down through all contacts to add them to the list.

HootSuite can track the Twitter stats and clicks on your links through Twitter by its link shortening service Owl.ly.

There is also a quick search option to track the hash tags and keywords on Twitter directly from the HootSuite interface. You can also embed your Twitter column or feed in your blog and website by copying the embed code.

HootSuite allows you to seamlessly update your Ping.FM and Wordpress accounts. You can also feed your blog RSS feed as tweets so that whenever you update your blog, it will be automatically tweeted from HootSuite. HootSuite also provides a bookmarklet to access HootSuite directly from your browser.

Now I don’t have to wait for TweetDeck to load and update my tweets as it is so easy to track and schedule tweets from HootSuite.
